Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the impact of hate speech on the demographic and geopolitical factors adopted by "Israel" to target the Palestinian entity and eradicate national identity. Using a descriptive-analytical approach and relying on the theory of media frames and content analysis, the study concluded that hate speech practiced by Israel appears in several forms, most notably the official statements issued by its political and military leaders, the formulation of discriminatory laws and legislation that are based on crystallization in line with its interests and the interests of religious Zionism, and media practices that reinforce the negative image of Palestinians before the international community. This discourse aims to distort the stereotypical image of the Palestinian people, portraying them as an existential threat, which strengthens the justification for policies based on forced displacement, settlement expansion operations within the Palestinian territories, and combating and eliminating what are known as national organizations, describing them as terrorist organizations. In addition, the study works to weaken any efforts and presence to build an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 7, 1967, in accordance with what is agreed upon in international charters and treaties. The geopolitical dangers emanating from hate speech include its legitimization and the consecration of settlement policies and geographic expansion, which impose a new reality on the ground, represented by land confiscation, the division of cities, complete control over Palestinian villages, the perpetration of organized massacres by religious Zionism to create a demographic imbalance, particularly regarding refugees and their cause, the erasure of Palestinian camps established after the displacement of Palestinians from their cities following the 1948 Nakba, the construction of the separation wall and complete control over Jerusalem, separating it from the rest of the Palestinian territory, which affects the chances of establishing a sovereign Palestinian state. On the demographic level, hate speech serves to reinforce Israel's policy of reducing the Palestinian presence through voluntary and forced displacement, as planned, especially in the Gaza Strip, the withdrawal of identity cards, particularly in Jerusalem, and the imposition of restrictions on the movement of Palestinians. This is what the current Israeli government is doing, as it has severed the ties of cities and transformed them into small cantons by placing gates at all entrances to Palestinian villages and cities, which leads to fundamental demographic changes in the occupied territories. To confront the threat of Israeli hate speech, Palestinians must adopt a multi-level strategy at the local and global levels, within a legal and media framework, to build a media counter-narrative that will help expose the falsity of the occupation's discourse to the world, expose its practices, and shape global public opinion against this discourse.
