Abstract

: This study aimed to identify the role of counseling in improving the performance of students with mild disabilities in private schools in Palestine. The study utilized a qualitative approach. To achieve the study's objectives, structured and semi-structured interviews were conducted to collect data. The study sample consisted of (10) counselors from private schools in Palestine, who were selected using a convenience sampling method. The study results revealed the necessity of developing and updating academic counseling programs to be more specialized and tailored to the needs of students with mild disabilities. These programs should be based on the latest research and educational methods to ensure comprehensive and effective support. Additionally, counseling contributes to enhancing the social interaction of these students within schools, thereby fostering their sense of belonging and integration into the educational environment. The study also highlighted some challenges related to resource shortages and the need for counselor training to address the specific needs of this student population. The study recommended strengthening specialized counseling in private schools in Palestine by providing continuous and comprehensive training for counselors, to ensure their ability to provide effective and personalized support to students with mild disabilities, thereby enhancing their academic achievement and social integration in the school environment.
