The aim of the study was to identify the relationship between sports culture and social awareness among sports science students at Palestinian universities, in addition to identifying differences based on gender. The researcher used a descriptive, analytical, and correlational approach. The study was conducted on a sample of (207) male and female sports science students, selected using a stratified random sampling method. The study sample represents (57.29%) of the study population. To collect data, the researcher used two measurement tools to measure sports culture and social awareness. The results of the study showed the following:
- The level of sports culture among sports science students at Palestinian universities was high, with an arithmetic mean of (4.01).
- The level of social awareness among sports science students at Palestinian universities was high, with an arithmetic mean of (4.07). Responses to the dimensions and items of the social awareness scale were very high and high.
- There was a strong, statistically significant, positive relationship at the significance level (α ≤ 0.01) between sports culture and social awareness among sports science students at Palestinian universities, with a value of (r = 0.77). There were no statistically significant differences at the significance level (α ≤ 0.05) in sports culture and social awareness among sports science students at Palestinian universities attributable to the gender variable.
The researcher recommends the need to develop curricula and sports activities at Palestinian universities to enhance cultural and social aspects.
